New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) On Saturday, the Delhi Police dismantled an illegal mixing operation for premium branded liquor, apprehending one suspect and seizing a significant stash of counterfeit liquor along with fraudulent labels and stickers.

The West District Police reported the confiscation of 14 cartons, containing 173 bottles of illicit high-end liquor, each with a 750 ml capacity. The brands discovered included Gold Label, Glenfiddich, and Glenlivet. Authorities also found 50 bottle caps, 20 counterfeit labels, and brand stickers for imported liquor at the site.

This operation was part of a concerted effort to target bulk suppliers and mixers implicated in the production and distribution of unlawful liquor. The Special Staff of the West District was specifically assigned to gather intelligence and take decisive measures against such offenders.

On January 15, police received actionable intelligence regarding an illegal liquor mixing unit functioning from a residential area near Bharat Gas Agency in Shivaji Enclave, Rajouri Garden, Delhi. This information was carefully verified and relayed to the police team.

Following this intel, a police team, including SI Sanjeet Rana, ASI Kaptan, HC Shamsher, HC Vijay, and HC Devender, was formed. The operation was overseen by Inspector Rajesh Maurya, head of the Special Staff, under the guidance of ACP (Operations) Vijay Singh and senior officials.

After conducting surveillance and setting a well-coordinated trap, the team executed a raid at the premises in Shivaji Enclave, Rajouri Garden, New Delhi. During the search of the rented apartment, they discovered an illicit liquor mixing and refilling operation. A large cache of illegal high-end liquor, along with counterfeit labels and brand stickers, was seized.

A case was filed under Section 33 of the Delhi Excise Act at the Rajouri Garden Police Station, leading to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Ajay.

During questioning, the accused disclosed that while serving as a bar helper at wedding and banquet venues in the vicinity of Wazirpur, he would collect empty, partially filled, and leftover bottles of expensive imported liquor. He then refilled these bottles with lower-quality liquor or diluted contents, placed fake labels and brand stickers sourced from Gurugram, and sold them at slightly discounted prices to defraud customers and gain illicit profits.

The suspect, Ajay, aged 24, is the son of Ramdas and resides in Wazirpur Industrial Area, Ashok Vihar, Delhi. He has no prior criminal record. The investigation is ongoing.
