New Delhi, May 30 (NationPress) - In a remarkable case of theft involving the mysterious loss of numerous mobile phones from a sealed courier van in transit, the Delhi Police’s South West District unit apprehended a 27-year-old suspect and recovered 31 stolen smartphones valued at Rs 12 lakh, in addition to the vehicle implicated in the crime.
The accused, Jitender Kumar, who hails from Saidalampur village in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody following extensive raids conducted in Faridabad, Aligarh, Rajasthan, and Raipur, according to police reports.
A statement released by Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West District, Surendra Choudhary, indicated that the theft was initially reported via an online FIR on April 22, after a shipment comprising 1,019 mobile phones was moved from Noida to a delivery point in Mahipalpur, Delhi. Upon unloading, it was discovered that 38 phones were unaccounted for, with no signs of damage or tampering on the cartons.

Over an 8-day police remand, continued raids resulted in the recovery of 31 out of the 38 stolen phones, with ongoing efforts to locate the co-accused and the remaining items.
Jitender has a prior criminal record involving two other theft cases; one in Gurugram where eight laptops were stolen and another in Noida linked to the theft of 180 mobile phones.
