New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) The Delhi Police has implemented a comprehensive security framework in the national capital as Republic Day approaches, deploying over 30,000 personnel across the city, according to officials.

Approximately 10,000 police personnel are assigned to the New Delhi district alone, which encompasses the ceremonial parade route and various high-security sites.

Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahala stated that meticulous preparations have been established to guarantee the seamless and secure execution of the celebrations.

In order to safeguard the Republic Day events, around 10,000 police officers are positioned in the New Delhi area. Checkpoints, barricades, and standard operating protocols have been set up.

He emphasized that all officers and staff have received thorough briefings regarding deployment strategies, location-specific roles, and emergency response plans. Drills and rehearsals have been conducted to ensure preparedness.

Mahala mentioned that over 3,000 CCTV cameras equipped with advanced video analytics and Facial Recognition System (FRS) capabilities have been installed across the New Delhi region, including along the parade route and surrounding areas.

The live feeds from these cameras are monitored continuously through more than 30 control rooms, staffed by approximately 150 trained personnel.

Police officers on the ground are also armed with AI-enabled glasses that integrate facial recognition and video analytics technology.

"These AI glasses, developed in India, are connected in real-time to police databases containing information on criminals, suspects, and proclaimed offenders. If a face is recognized in a crowded area, it can be identified instantly, allowing for rapid intervention," Mahala said.

Officials noted that the security strategy includes multiple layers of barricading, thorough checks, and strict access control along the parade route and adjacent areas.

To bolster surveillance and mobility, mobile monitoring vehicles equipped with FRS technology have been strategically stationed throughout the city.

Sniper teams have also been deployed on numerous rooftops in New Delhi, North Delhi, and Central Delhi districts as part of the heightened alert.

Deputy commissioners of police have conducted detailed route inspections and anti-sabotage assessments, while security has been heightened in crowded locations such as markets, bus terminals, metro stations, and railway stations throughout Delhi.

The police are also executing tenant and domestic help verification drives as part of the overarching security initiative.

One officer mentioned that coordination meetings have been organized with police forces from neighboring states to ensure seamless intelligence sharing, coordination, and readiness during the national event.

The Additional Commissioner of Police urged citizens to adhere to security advisories and to refrain from carrying prohibited items.

He also stated that seating enclosures have been named after rivers and advised visitors to familiarize themselves with their designated enclosure, approach road, and entry gate to avoid inconvenience.
