Visakhapatnam, April 15 (NationPress) The relatives of K. Anusha, a woman in her ninth month of pregnancy who was reportedly slain by her husband, along with various women’s organizations, on Tuesday, called for the most severe punishment for the perpetrator.

Women’s advocacy groups urged the Andhra Pradesh government to establish a fast-track court to facilitate a swift trial in this high-profile case.

Members of these groups held a demonstration near King George Hospital, where the autopsy on the deceased 27-year-old Anusha was performed.

Activists from the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIU) chanted slogans demanding that a fast-track court be set up and justice be served to Anusha's family.

They insisted on severe penalties for Gnaneswara Rao and pledged to persist in their fight for justice. The activists urged authorities to ensure that the accused remains behind bars and appealed to legal professionals not to represent him.

Friends and family of Anusha claimed that Gnaneswara Rao executed the murder in a premeditated manner. They alleged that he postponed taking her to a hospital and strangled her while she was asleep.

The crime took place at their residence in Madhurawada under the jurisdiction of the PM Palem police station early on Monday.

As per police reports, the couple had a love marriage in December 2022 and were residing near the RTC Depot in Madhurawada.

Gnaneswara Rao operates two fast-food outlets, while Anusha had completed a hotel management program.

She was scheduled for admission to the hospital for her delivery on Monday morning. However, he informed her relatives that she had collapsed and lost consciousness at home. Along with her relatives, he took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

After Anusha’s family expressed suspicions regarding her death, police interrogated Gnaneswara Rao, who subsequently confessed to the crime.

Initial investigations revealed that he had strangled her with a cloth while she was asleep.

Anusha's family informed the police that Gnaneswara Rao had been attempting to distance himself from her for some time.

They reported that he had previously claimed to be suffering from cancer and suggested that she divorce him and marry another man. Anusha, however, refused to leave him.

Despite nearly three years of marriage, Gnaneswara Rao had never introduced Anusha to his parents and always found excuses when she requested to meet them.

Having lost her mother during childhood and her father four years ago, Anusha had recently brought her grandmother to assist her.

Relatives of the deceased stated that Gnaneswara Rao deceived Anusha under the guise of love and marriage and resorted to murder when his plan to abandon her failed.
