Indore, June 11 (NationPress) Following the investigation by Meghalaya Police, which uncovered that Sonam Raghuvanshi was the mastermind behind the gruesome murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, her family has chosen to sever ties with her and is advocating for the death penalty if she is found guilty.
On Wednesday, Sonam's brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, visited the home of Raja's parents in Indore to express his regret over his sister's involvement in the murder of her spouse. During this meeting, he conveyed to Raja's mother that he believes Sonam should face the death penalty.
"We will completely distance ourselves from her. No one will visit her, and we will not assist her during the court proceedings in Meghalaya. If the court finds her culpable, we will hope she receives the death penalty for her actions," Govind, accompanied by Raja's brother Vipin, stated to the media. Regarding Sonam's relationship with Raj Kushwaha, Govind mentioned he was unaware of it until it was reported in the media. "Raj Kushwaha was merely an employee in our family business. All I know is that she used to tie a rakhi to Raj," he explained.
When questioned about Jitendra Raghuvanshi, another suspect in Raja's murder, Govind remarked, "He (Jitendra) is my cousin and was also employed in my family business."
According to police reports, Raj Kushwaha, who was involved in a romantic relationship with Sonam for the past few months, worked as an accountant at a furniture sheet unit owned by her family.
In a related development, a joint team from Meghalaya Police and Indore Police visited the residence of one of the accused, Vishal Chauhan, and conducted an extensive search. They recovered the clothing he wore during the crime.
"Based on the information provided by Chauhan, the pants and shirts he had on during Raghuvanshi's murder were collected from his home," stated Indore's Assistant Commissioner of Police Poonamchandra Yadav to the media. These items will be sent to a forensic lab to ascertain if they contain blood stains.
Indore's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia disclosed that a 12-member team from Meghalaya Police has departed for Shillong with the four suspects— Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi—after acquiring their transit custody from an Indore district court.
