Karnataka: Man Lynched at 40 for Marrying 20-Year-Old; Six Arrested, FIR Filed Against 20

Chitradurga (Karnataka), Nov 28 (NationPress) Karnataka Police have apprehended six individuals and initiated FIRs against 20 people for the murder of a 40-year-old man who eloped and wed a 20-year-old woman in Chitradurga district on Thursday.
The individuals in custody are relatives of the bride.
The victim has been identified as Manjunath, a resident of Konanuru village near Chitradurga city.
The Bharamasagar police, who are looking into the case, have filed an FIR against 20 individuals and initiated a search for the remaining suspects.
This marked Manjunath's second marriage; he was previously married to Shilpa, whom he deceived. Tragically, Shilpa took her own life by hanging, which led to Manjunath's incarceration.
Upon his release, he began a relationship with the 20-year-old woman, who was deeply infatuated with him, as reported by police.
Manjunath eloped and married her at the Hosagudda temple in Nayakanahatti just 20 days prior.
Alarmed by this development, the woman’s family plotted to kill him, persuading both Manjunath and their daughter that a marriage ceremony would be organized.
When Manjunath arrived at their home on Wednesday, he was assaulted with sticks and iron rods by the family members of his wife, resulting in his death.
According to Chitradurga SP Ranjith Kumar Bandaru, the parents of the deceased also faced attacks from the group and are currently receiving medical treatment.
In the wake of Manjunath's death, an audio recording allegedly featuring a conversation between him and the woman has emerged.
In the recording, she can be heard urging Manjunath to come to her home and take her with him, threatening to end her life otherwise. Ultimately, Manjunath concedes to her request.
The police are continuing their investigation into this case.
