Belagavi, April 14 (NationPress) A shocking case of honour killing has emerged from the Yamanakanamaradi police jurisdiction in Karnataka's Belagavi district. Authorities have apprehended three individuals, including the victim's brother, in connection with this tragic incident.
The victim, identified as Satyavva Santosha Helavi, was just 24 years old and hailed from Hanabaratti village in Rayabagh taluk. Those arrested include her uncle, Prakash Helavara, from Gudikshetra village near Hukkeri; her brother, Shyanura Helavara; and her brother-in-law, Morabada Kallappa, who resides in Rayabagh.
Reports indicate that Satyavva was married to Santosh Helavi but decided to elope with her lover, Krishna Patil, aged 28. Following her disappearance, her family filed a missing persons report, but they later tracked her down and allegedly conspired to take her life. In a brutal act, she was murdered and her body was cremated in an attempt to erase the evidence.
This heinous act occurred on March 13 but only came to light recently. After a formal complaint was lodged, police swiftly investigated and arrested the suspects.
