Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) As the National Investigation Agency (NIA) prepares to submit its charge sheet in the Special NIA Court located in Jammu, leaders from multiple political factions, including the BJP, JD(U), Congress, and the Samajwadi Party, have vocally demanded strict repercussions for those accountable, emphasizing that the Pahalgam incident has left the entire nation in shock.
BJP leader Dilip Jaiswal remarked to IANS that the charge sheet's filing represents a significant milestone towards achieving justice.
“The NIA is set to file the charge sheet today. The event that transpired has shaken the entire nation. The culprits must be identified and dealt with severely,” he stated.
BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj also commented, insisting that India has provided a robust response to the assault.
“The Pahalgam attack was met with a firm reaction. India is no longer vulnerable and will not succumb to any pressure. Presently, India is prepared to assert itself on the international platform. Even in engagements with major powers like the United States, India has remained resolute. Today's India does not yield; it compels others to comply,” he conveyed to IANS.
JD(U) leader Ashok Choudhary maintained that the judicial process should unfold naturally.
“The Pahalgam incident will certainly be addressed with gravity. After the charge sheet is presented, actions will be executed against those implicated, following the law,” he expressed.
Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat called the event tragic while highlighting the necessity for accountability beyond merely filing a charge sheet.
“This was undeniably a severe incident. It’s not just about presenting charge sheets; we must also scrutinize the failures that occurred despite a comprehensive security arrangement. Alongside legal measures, proactive steps must be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future,” he stated.
Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Kumar Rai questioned the adequacy of security measures.
“Due to their actions, the nation’s security was jeopardized. Where was the NIA during the attacks? No one arrived on the scene for hours. Subsequently, it was reported that authorities were unaware tourism had resumed in that area while terrorists roamed freely,” he added.
On April 22, the picturesque Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, experienced one of the most devastating terrorist attacks targeting tourists in the region. The attackers interrogated individuals about their faith before opening fire and compelled some to recite the Kalma. This indiscriminate assault resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a pony rider, sending shockwaves throughout the nation.
