New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) Following the resolution passed during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which urged immediate measures to penalize those accountable for the brutal killing of 26 innocent civilians in J&K's Pahalgam, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari emphasized the need for urgent and decisive action, declaring that they are united with the nation, not politics.

In a conversation with IANS, Pramod Tiwari remarked, “The Congress party is entirely behind the government. We are persistently demanding stringent measures against the terrorists who ruthlessly took the lives of our 26 innocent citizens. Moreover, Pakistan, which has consistently backed terrorism, must also be held accountable.”

During the CWC meeting on Friday, the party passed a resolution demanding immediate steps to hold those responsible accountable and to ensure Pakistan faces repercussions for its ongoing support of terrorism.

Tiwari, who recently visited the widow of one of the victims in Kanpur, expressed profound sorrow regarding the security failures that led to this tragedy.

“It has been twelve days since the incident. We are still waiting for justice, particularly after speaking with the widow from Kanpur, whose husband was killed right in front of her due to inadequate security. Like many others, we seek accountability for such cowardice,” he stated, reiterating that the Congress fully endorses any government actions aimed at eradicating terrorism.

The Congress leader also addressed remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kerala, where he claimed, “The INDI alliance will lose sleep.” Tiwari responded, “While the entire nation demands action against terrorism, the Prime Minister is engaging in political banter. It pains my heart. The country anticipated a different response from its Prime Minister, especially in times of crisis.”

On the topic of the caste census, Tiwari addressed a letter from RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav directed to the Prime Minister.

He affirmed that Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has a clear and firm position on the issue.

Rahul Gandhi Ji advocates for the implementation of this with full commitment within a specified timeframe. Any existing limitations should be addressed and resolved through consensus in Parliament. The Backward Classes who have been marginalized deserve to benefit from tangible actions,” he concluded.

Point of View

It is imperative to adopt a perspective that prioritizes the nation's interests, urging accountability and decisive action against terrorism while fostering unity across political lines.
