Kolkata, Aug 16 (NationPress) The relatives of the trainee nurse, whose lifeless body was discovered in a private nursing home located in Singur, Hooghly district, just three days ago, are calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into her demise this Saturday.
This development follows the transport of her body to AIIMS Kalyani in Nadia district for an autopsy.
The choice to send her body to a central medical facility was influenced by the deceased's parents, who expressed a lack of confidence in the post-mortem examination to be conducted at a state-run medical college and hospital.
Atanu Jana, the brother of the deceased, stated, "Given the recent events in Kolkata and the manner in which her body was moved from Singur to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, I can no longer trust the state government to perform a just autopsy. We believe my sister was murdered; hence, we demand a CBI inquiry to uncover the truth."
This incident echoes the horrific rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata last year, which sent ripples of shock across the nation. The family had also sought a CBI investigation following a hasty autopsy and an expedited cremation.
On Wednesday night, the lifeless body of a trainee nurse was found in a private hospital.
She was discovered hanging from the ceiling in a room within the nursing home.
Remarkably, the young woman had just started working at the nursing home three days prior. She had completed her General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) three-year diploma from a nursing institute in Bangalore the previous year. The police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the incident.
However, the family maintains that their daughter was murdered.
They have filed a murder complaint against the nursing home's owner. In response to their allegations, the police have arrested two individuals linked to the case.
The arrested individuals were identified as nursing home owner Subir Ghora and the deceased's partner, Radhagovinda Ghatan.
Initial investigations indicate that the nursing student was involved in a relationship with the arrested Radhagovinda Ghatan, whose residence is in the Egra area of East Midnapore.
The nurse was reportedly in a state of emotional turmoil after Ghatan declined to marry her, and there are accusations that the nursing home owner had mistreated the young woman.
