Kolkata, Aug 17 (NationPress) The family of a trainee nurse, whose lifeless body was discovered in a private hospital in Singur, located in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, has made serious allegations claiming she was raped and murdered.
The victim's father stated that his daughter endured physical and mental abuse while at the private hospital.
He has also criticized the West Bengal Police for their lack of cooperation.
On Saturday, the family requested a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the circumstances surrounding their daughter’s death.
"The autopsy was conducted at a specific facility based on our request. I firmly believe my daughter was raped and killed following severe mental and physical abuse. Later that night, around 11 p.m., the officer in charge of the police station and a staff member from the nursing home attempted to destroy evidence. We lack faith in the police investigation and reiterate our demand for a CBI inquiry," the victim's father expressed.
Following the autopsy at AIIMS Kalyani in Nadia district, the nurse's body was brought back to her home in Nandigram, East Midnapore district, on Saturday night. The community was engulfed in sorrow as many gathered to pay their respects.
Her body was discovered hanging from the ceiling of a room within the nursing home.
Curiously, the young nurse had recently commenced her role at the private facility. She had completed her General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) diploma last year at a nursing institute in Bangalore. A case of unnatural death is currently registered with the Hooghly Police.
However, the family maintains that their daughter was murdered.
The family has lodged a murder complaint against the nursing home owner. In response, authorities have apprehended two individuals linked to the case.
The suspects include Subir Ghora, the nursing home owner, and Radhagovinda Ghatan, the deceased's boyfriend.
Initial findings indicate that the nursing student was in a relationship with Radhagovinda Ghatan, whose residence is in the Egra area of East Midnapore.
Reportedly, the nurse was psychologically distressed after Ghatan declined to marry her, and there are claims that the nursing home owner behaved inappropriately towards her.
