Kolkata, Jan 17 (NationPress) Just hours before a special court is set to deliver its verdict on Saturday regarding the horrific rape and murder of a junior female doctor from the state-operated R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata that occurred in August of the previous year, the victim's parents expressed their concerns on Friday evening, claiming that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been deliberately inactive throughout the investigation process.

"The CBI has accomplished virtually nothing in this case. The report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) indicates that the seminar room where our daughter’s body was found on the morning of August 9 was not the actual crime scene. The CBI seems to be portraying civic volunteer Sanjay Roy as the primary suspect in this case, attempting to validate this narrative. Only the court’s verdict will reveal how effective the CBI has been in these efforts," remarked the victim's father, who was accompanied by his wife during the media briefing.

The father asserted that throughout the CBI's investigation, it appeared that some unseen influence was directing the agency from the outset.

"The pressing question is, who is behind this unseen influence? The administration has been uncooperative, which is why my daughter has not received justice," he stated.

Supporting the victim’s father, senior advocate at Calcutta High Court and CPI-M Rajya Sabha member Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya stated that "hurried justice" does not equate to "just justice".

"This situation is not merely a straightforward case of rape and murder. Hence, undue haste can frequently allow the true perpetrators to evade justice,” Bhattacharya remarked.

Conversely, Kunal Ghosh, the General Secretary of the ruling Trinamool Congress, noted that the CBI initiated the investigation following a directive from the Calcutta High Court, as requested by the victim's parents.

"Currently, they are being misled by others," he added.
