RG Kar Incident: CFSL Findings Raise Questions About the True 'Crime Scene'

Kolkata, Dec 24 (NationPress) A report submitted by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raised significant doubts regarding the 'scene of the crime' in the brutal rape and murder of a junior doctor from the state-operated R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata back in August.

The body of the victim was discovered in the seminar hall of the hospital on the morning of August 9. Initially, the Kolkata Police conducted an investigation, followed by the CBI, both of whom designated the seminar hall as the 'scene of crime'.

However, the CFSL report submitted to the central investigative agency has indicated that there are no visible signs of a struggle within the seminar room, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Moreover, these findings seem to support concerns raised by some members of the medical community in the state since the onset of the investigation, suggesting that the genuine 'scene of the crime' may have been located elsewhere, and that the body was subsequently moved to the seminar hall to mislead investigators.

The startling CFSL report emerged on the same day that the Calcutta High Court was set to consider a petition from the victim's parents, who have been calling for a renewed investigation into the case from the very beginning.

According to sources, during the initial investigation by the Kolkata Police, investigators collected a total of 40 items from the seminar hall where the victim's body was found on August 9.

Following a directive from the Calcutta High Court for the CBI to take over the investigation, many items recovered from the seminar hall were sent to the CFSL for analysis. On August 14, a team of CFSL specialists also conducted a physical examination of the alleged crime scene, the seminar hall.

Subsequently, based on the forensic analyses of the collected items and the physical assessment of the crime scene, the CFSL submitted a report to the CBI that has sparked doubts about the authenticity of the designated 'scene of crime'.
