R.G. Kar Incident: CFSL Findings Indicate Need for Further Investigation into Possible Rape and Murder Involvement

Kolkata, Dec 26 (NationPress) A newly released report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) regarding the horrific rape and murder of a female junior doctor at the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata has called for additional investigation to ascertain whether the crime was committed by only one individual or if there were other perpetrators involved.
The report indicates that while the possibility of a single assailant cannot be dismissed, further analysis, drawing from past scientific research in similar incidents, may provide clarity on whether multiple individuals participated in the crime.
So far, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted just one charge sheet in this case, identifying civic volunteer Sanjay Roy as the 'main accused' in the rape and murder.
In light of this, the CFSL's findings which advocate for more research have sparked new inquiries into whether any steps will actually be taken for further investigation.
The CFSL report noted that the timeframe during which the rape and murder occurred was between midnight on August 8 and 6 a.m. on August 9.
One significant finding in the CFSL report has cast doubt on the true 'scene of the crime'. On the morning of August 9, the victim's body was discovered in a seminar hall within the hospital. Initially, both the Kolkata Police and subsequently the CBI treated this seminar hall as the crime scene. However, the CFSL report, which was submitted to the CBI, pointed out that there were no visible signs of a struggle in the seminar room.
Additionally, the CFSL report has clearly indicated that the majority of the injuries found on the victim's body were consistent with her attempts to resist the act of rape.
