Key Testimony from Forensic Doctor in RG Kar Case Vital for CBI Investigation

Kolkata, Dec 12 (NationPress) The testimony of a specific doctor involved in the forensic team that conducted the autopsy of the junior female doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital—who tragically lost her life due to rape and murder within the hospital grounds in August—and who took several images of the victim’s body before the autopsy, has proven to be vital for the CBI's efforts to ascertain whether there was any tampering with the evidence.
Sources familiar with the situation indicated that this doctor’s statement is particularly significant as the investigators need to understand that this doctor vocally opposed the initial efforts by some forensic team members to categorize the incident as a suicide.
In addition to raising concerns, this doctor also captured images of the victim’s body using their mobile phone. Investigating officials have already scrutinized these images and sent them for further forensic analysis.
According to sources, the actions taken by this specific doctor in the forensic team were instrumental in ensuring that the incident was not misclassified as a suicide.
The CBI is currently examining the former and controversial Principal of R.G. Kar, Sandip Ghosh, along with the former SHO of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal, for allegedly misleading the investigation and tampering with evidence during the initial inquiry by Kolkata Police.
In the meantime, advocate Vrinda Grover, who has been representing the victim's family in the Supreme Court of India, Calcutta High Court, and the trial court, announced her decision to withdraw from the case on Wednesday.
In a statement released from Vrinda Grover's office, certain “intervening factors and circumstances” were cited as reasons for her withdrawal. This marks the second change in legal representation for the victim's family.
Initially, senior advocate and CPI-M Rajya Sabha member Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya had taken on the role of representing the family of the victim.
