Kolkata, Sep 19 (NationPress) The CBI is set to present yet another status report next month regarding the ongoing investigation into the horrific rape and murder of a female junior doctor from the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, an incident that occurred in August of last year.
According to sources, this will mark the seventh status report submitted by the central agency to the trial court concerning this case.
Notably, the trial court in Sealdah, Kolkata, where the CBI will file its seventh report on November 14, is the same court that sentenced the sole convict, Sanjay Roy, to life imprisonment last year.
Sources indicate that the upcoming report is expected to shed light on the questionable actions of certain Kolkata Police officers during the initial investigation.
Furthermore, the victim's family's legal representatives have repeatedly questioned the conduct of these officers during the preliminary investigation.
Recently, the victim's family has accused the CBI of being insufficiently thorough in its investigation into the broader conspiracy surrounding the rape and murder.
In this new seventh report, the CBI is likely to address allegations from the victim's parents that, on the morning of August 9 last year, when their daughter's body was discovered in a seminar room on the hospital grounds, an official from R.G. Kar attempted to mislead them by suggesting the incident was a suicide.
On September 12, the CBI submitted its sixth report to the court. On that occasion, the victim's family's counsel questioned whether the CBI had identified who directed the efforts to mislead the family.
The judge remarked that the CBI should pursue the R.G. Kar personnel who attempted to misinform the victim's family regarding the nature of the incident.
At present, the case is being deliberated in three courts: the Supreme Court, the Calcutta High Court, and the trial court in Sealdah, Kolkata.
