Kolkata, March 1 (NationPress) The supplementary charge sheet that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is preparing to present to a specialized court in Kolkata concerning the RG Kar rape and murder case will concentrate on vital issues while illuminating the wider conspiracy surrounding this heinous act, as disclosed by sources acquainted with the investigation.
The CBI has recently notified the special court of its intention to submit the supplementary charge sheet shortly, which will tackle the tampering and alteration of evidence in the case. Officials are making efforts to ensure its filing occurs before the next Supreme Court hearing, set for March 17.
Sources indicate that the supplementary charge sheet will address several crucial elements, starting with the final report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). This report casts doubt on the 'actual scene of the crime.'
The victim's body, a junior doctor, was discovered in a seminar hall at the RG Kar facility on the morning of August 9 last year. However, the CFSL report notably states that there was no evidence of a struggle in the seminar room, implying that it might not have been the genuine crime scene. This raises the possibility that the body was placed there after the rape and murder occurred elsewhere.
The second significant issue to be emphasized will be the CCTV footage available to investigators. Analyzing the footage suggests a potential link to the broader conspiracy, particularly regarding the tampering and alteration of evidence.
The third point will concentrate on the analysis of mobile SIM card data, especially from the former and controversial principal of RG Kar, Sandip Ghosh, and the former SHO of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal.
The fourth aspect pertains to the dubious arrangement of the victim’s personal belongings in the seminar hall, which again raises questions about whether it was actually the scene of the crime.
Earlier this week, the victim's parents traveled to New Delhi to meet with CBI Director Praveen Sood, voicing their concerns regarding the slow pace of the agency's investigation.
“We had a patient hearing with the CBI Director for about an hour. He urged us to remain patient and assured us of justice. We trust his assurance. We also consulted with our counsel, Karuna Nundy, regarding the strategy for the upcoming Supreme Court hearing,” the victim’s father told the media.
