Kolkata, Feb 28 (NationPress) The supplementary charge sheet regarding the R. G. Kar tragedy is currently being formulated by a specialized legal team at the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) headquarters in New Delhi, with plans to present it in a special court in Kolkata shortly, according to sources.

The CBI is diligently working to file this supplementary charge sheet by March 17, coinciding with the next hearing related to the cases of rape and murder at the Supreme Court.

This supplementary charge sheet is anticipated to emphasize the aspect of evidence tampering within the investigation.

Sources have indicated that the findings from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), available CCTV footage, and results from the analysis of various mobile SIM cards seized by the investigators will form the foundation of this supplementary charge sheet.

Consequently, the CBI's legal representative contested the request from former SHO of Tala Police Station Abhijit Mondal to reclaim his mobile SIM, which is currently held by CBI officials.

The CBI's counsel emphasized that since this mobile SIM card serves as a crucial exhibit in the case, its return is not feasible during this stage of the inquiry.

This week, the victim's parents traveled to New Delhi to meet with CBI Director Praveen Sood to express their concerns regarding the slow pace of the investigation conducted by the agency's Kolkata office.

"The CBI director listened to us attentively for about an hour. He urged us to remain patient and assured us of justice. We trust his promise. We also consulted with our attorney Karuna Nundy about strategies for the upcoming hearing at the Apex Court," the victim's father shared with the media.

Karun Nundy also represents the Association of Senior Doctors, Joint Platform of Doctors at the Apex Court in this case.

The special court in Kolkata recently sentenced Sanjay Roy, the accused in the rape and murder case, to life imprisonment.

Previously, the CBI arrested Mondal and the former, controversial principal of R.G. Kar, Sandip Ghosh, on allegations of tampering with and altering evidence. However, both individuals were granted bail by the special court in Kolkata as the CBI failed to submit the supplementary charge sheet against them within 90 days of their arrest.
