Mumbai, Jan 21 (NationPress) Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora on Tuesday urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to carry out a comprehensive audit of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants throughout the state.
In a correspondence to the Chief Minister, he proposed that stringent measures be enforced against staffing firms that do not validate documentation before employing individuals. His appeal follows the apprehension of a Bangladeshi immigrant linked to the assault on Saif Ali Khan.
“The recent incident involving Saif Ali Khan underscores the pressing necessity to tackle this matter. The safety and security of Maharashtra must be prioritized,” Deora stated.
He continued, in light of the recent unfortunate event involving Saif Ali Khan, which has raised significant alarm throughout Maharashtra, ‘I am writing to highlight an urgent issue that requires immediate attention.’
“It is essential for the state government to execute a thorough audit of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants living and working in Maharashtra. This initiative should incorporate district collectors, local municipalities, and law enforcement agencies collaborating to identify, verify, and take action against undocumented individuals,” he elaborated.
Deora contended that it is equally crucial to hold staffing companies responsible for their involvement in hiring and placing illegal immigrants without confirming their documentation.
He has thus advocated for the state government to enforce strict regulations requiring staffing agencies to validate the authenticity of all documents prior to employment.
“Additionally, penalties for non-compliance need to be instituted, including fines and the revocation of licenses for agencies found neglecting this duty,” he mentioned.
He also called for routine inspections to ensure adherence to these regulations.
“Maharashtra has consistently been a symbol of opportunity and inclusiveness, but it is vital to balance these ideals with the need for safety, security, and legal accountability. A unified effort to address this issue will not only enhance public trust but also protect the interests of law-abiding citizens and businesses within our state,” Deora remarked.
On Sunday, BJP leader Kirti Somaiya visited the Labor Camp at Kavesar Thane, where Mohammad Shehzad had been residing for three months, and demanded that the Thane Police Commissioner conduct a combing operation.
