Amaravati, July 16 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has made serious allegations against the state’s Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs). He claimed that these officials have become mafia leaders within their respective jurisdictions, acting as collection agents for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son, state Minister Nara Lokesh.
According to Jagan, these DIGs are managing CIs and DSPs under their command, effectively turning them into agents for various scams occurring in their zones. He stated that about 50 percent of the revenue generated from liquor sales, sand, and other industries is being distributed among police officers and local MLAs, while the remaining is allegedly funneled to Chandrababu Naidu and his son.
He accused the police of permitting unauthorized liquor shops, known as belt shops, to operate in villages, where liquor is sold at inflated prices. Jagan pointed out that while the previous YSRCP government earned Rs 750 crore from sand sales, the current TDP-led coalition government has facilitated rampant looting under the guise of providing free sand, resulting in the public paying double what they used to.
