New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) Amid escalating political unrest following the recent clashes in West Bengal's Murshidabad district during protests against the Waqf Act, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit expressed strong condemnation of the violence, calling for decisive action from the state government and law enforcement.
Dikshit stated to IANS, “This is entirely unacceptable. We oppose all forms of violence. In a democracy, there is no room for any kind of violence.
“Yes, individuals have the right to protest and voice their opinions, and there must be space for such expressions. However, there is absolutely no justification for violence.
“I sincerely hope and urge that the Bengal Police and the state government will implement strict measures to prevent and eliminate any further incidents.”
In related comments, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh questioned, “Why are groups that propagate hatred and instigate riots permitted to hold processions with DJs near mosques? Why is the administration granting permission for this? Such permissions should not be issued.”
Supporting Singh's remarks, Dikshit added, “There should not have been authorization for a procession to pass near a mosque. Inciting people or creating unrest in front of any religious site should not be tolerated. Historically, such processions have deliberately created tensions, especially close to mosques.”
Additionally, in Punjab, Congress CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa has been summoned by state police after claiming that over 50 grenade launchers are present in the state.
In response, Sandeep Dikshit stated, “If Bajwa Sahib has made this claim, he should present his sources or information to the government. We will see what unfolds when he meets with the authorities.”
“Interestingly, Aam Aadmi Party leaders frequently make such statements, in Delhi or elsewhere, without ever providing evidence,” Dikshit remarked, questioning, “Why are Congress leaders being held to a different standard now?”
