Kochi, April 7 (NationPress) The Kerala High Court has today declined actor Dileep's request for a CBI investigation into the sexual assault case of a Malayalam actress.

Dileep stands as the eighth accused and is considered the primary conspirator in this case.

The troubling incident occurred on February 17, 2017, when the actress was kidnapped and assaulted in a moving vehicle while traveling from Thrissur to Kochi after completing a film shoot.

Pulsar Suni, the main accused who has been a driver on film sets since 2010, was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court after spending seven years behind bars.

Investigations by the police indicated that Suni had connections with Dileep. It was suggested that Dileep harbored resentment towards the actress, allegedly because she had informed his former spouse about his affair with another actress.

The case centers around a heinous assault, meticulously planned by Suni and his associates after kidnapping the actress.

Notably, Dileep's request for a CBI investigation had previously been rejected by a single judge of the High Court in December 2018.

While reviewing Dileep's appeal on April 1, the court noted that he had repeatedly requested adjournments since his appeal was filed in March 2019.

However, on Monday, the Bench comprising Justice A.M. Mustaque and Justice P. Krishna Kumar dismissed the appeal, highlighting that the trial at the Principal District and Sessions Court in Ernakulam is nearing its conclusion.

“We ultimately agree with the learned Single Judge regarding the refusal for further CBI inquiries, as we also observe that the trial is progressing towards a final resolution,” remarked the division bench.

Nevertheless, the Bench annulled certain remarks made by the single judge, stating that those issues should be addressed at the appropriate time.

Since the emergence of this case, Dileep’s popularity has significantly diminished, adversely affecting the box office performance of his films.

Following the end of his first marriage with the equally famous actress Manju Warrier, Dileep married another well-known actress, Kavya Madhavan, whose first marriage also ended in divorce.
