Kerala: Actress Abduction Case Survivor Demands Public Trial

Kochi, Dec 12 (NationPress) A prominent actress from Kerala, who survived a sexual assault incident in 2017, has approached the trial court requesting that the remaining proceedings of her case be conducted in open court. The trial is currently in its concluding phases at the Principal District and Sessions Court in Ernakulam.
Actor Dileep, a notable personality in the Malayalam film industry, is among the accused in this case. He was incarcerated for almost three months in 2017 and is presently out on bail.
The actress has also submitted a separate application seeking contempt of court proceedings against former Director General of Police (DGP) R. Sreelekha. Recently, Sreelekha allegedly made controversial remarks about the case in a YouTube video. Notably, Sreelekha, who became Kerala’s first female DGP before her retirement last year, drew attention by joining the BJP.
Previously, the actress appealed to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, expressing frustration over the lack of justice from both the Kerala High Court and the Supreme Court. She highlighted serious concerns regarding the unauthorized access, copying, and transfer of a memory card containing videos of the assault while it was in the custody of the court. Despite her calls for action, no measures have been taken against those accountable for this breach.
The traumatic incident occurred on February 17, 2017, when the actress was abducted and assaulted in a moving vehicle while en route from Thrissur to Kochi after completing a film shoot. Pulsar Suni, the main accused and a driver associated with film sets since 2010, was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court after spending seven years behind bars.
According to police investigations, Suni had connections with Dileep, who is the eighth accused in the case.
Further inquiries revealed that actor Dileep harbored a grudge against the actress, allegedly due to her informing his ex-wife about his relationship with another actress.
This case involves a brutal assault orchestrated by Suni and his accomplices, who premeditated the abduction of the actress.
