Dissent Emerges in Trinamool Against Minister Manas Bhunia as 3 MLAs Approach Mamata

Kolkata, Dec 24 (NationPress) Dissent appears to be surfacing within West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress targeting Minister Manas Ranjan Bhunia, the legislator for the Sabang assembly constituency in West Midnapore. Three legislators from the district have penned a letter to the party leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing him of managing a "parallel party administration" in the area, ignoring other MLAs.
The letter was signed by the party legislator from Keshpur-SC seat and Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Seuli Saha, along with her colleague from the Dantan constituency, Bikaram Chandra Pradhan.
The third signatory is former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and party legislator from Debra, Humayun Kabir. Within the letter, the three legislators have accused Bhunia of operating a parallel party structure in the district, sidelining other MLAs, particularly the senior members.
According to party insiders, Bhunia enjoys the support of Sujay Hazra, the newly elected party legislator from the Medinipur Assembly constituency in recent bypolls.
In their correspondence, the three legislators warned that unless the party’s higher-ups step in, the internal strife could escalate significantly before the important state Assembly elections in 2026, jeopardizing the party’s chances at the polls.
However, Bhunia was not reachable for comments.
Earlier this month, six Trinamool legislators from Nadia district submitted a similar letter to the Chief Minister, accusing party Lok Sabha member from Krishnagar constituency Mahua Moitra of orchestrating a "parallel party administration" in that district, excluding the MLAs from decisions.
The Chief Minister has already informed these six legislators from Nadia that any resolution concerning this issue will be addressed in a future district-level organizational meeting in Nadia.
