New Delhi, Nov 14 (NationPress) To showcase and honor the remarkable skills and entrepreneurial spirit of Divyang artisans from all over the nation, a ‘Divya Kala Mela’ is set to take place from November 15 to 23 at Lucknow University, as announced by an official on Friday.
This event, organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, will feature an array of handicrafts, handloom creations, embroidery works, and packaged foods.
The National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC), the primary agency for the event, promises an engaging experience for attendees, showcasing fascinating products from various parts of India, including Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern states.
Over the last three years, 26 Divya Kala Melas held across the nation have significantly contributed to highlighting cultural diversity, enhancing local economies, and fostering community involvement.
These fairs have created new marketing opportunities for Divyang entrepreneurs. Artisans with disabilities from 24 states who participated in these events have collectively generated business worth over Rs 21 crore, according to the statement.
The fairs have also been instrumental in raising awareness about disabilities through experience zones, Divyang sports activities, and art exhibitions. Indeed, the DKM serves as a vital platform reflecting the abilities of Divyang artisans, artists, and entrepreneurs.
Approximately 100 Divyang artisans, artists, and entrepreneurs from around 18 States/UTs will present their products and talents at this Mela in Lucknow University.
The primary categories of products on display will include home decor, lifestyle items, apparel, stationery, eco-friendly products, packaged and organic foods, toys, gift items, jewellery, and clutch bags.
This nine-day Mela is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to support ‘Vocal for Local’ and to experience and purchase products crafted with passion by Divyang artisans.
The fair will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and a series of cultural performances featuring both Divyang artists and renowned performers will be held throughout the event.
Visitors can also delight in flavorful delicacies from various regions of the country. A special cultural program titled ‘Divya Kala Shakti’ will take place on November 23, showcasing performances by Divyang artists from different states, as stated.
