Minister Virendra Kumar Reports 1,883 Certified at 349 Divyang-Friendly Training Centres in 2025-26

New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) A total of 349 training centres designed for Divyangjan across India provided skill development and certified 1,883 individuals during the fiscal year 2025-26, as reported by the Centre to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Virendra Kumar, the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, disclosed that in the Financial Year 2025-26, 2,395 Divyangjan received training from these centres, with 1,883 obtaining certification.
The statistics revealed that Madhya Pradesh led all states by training 947 Divyangjan, out of which 761 achieved certification.
Uttarakhand trained 226 Divyangjan and certified 167, while Odisha trained 193 Divyangjan with 150 certified during the same period.
The Minister highlighted that the state of Uttar Pradesh hosts the largest number of Divyang-friendly training centres for skill enhancement, totaling 83. Following are Madhya Pradesh with 63 centres and Rajasthan with 37.
According to Minister Virendra Kumar, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is actively facilitating skill training for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) through accredited government organizations and NGOs as part of the National Action Plan for Skill Development of Persons with Disabilities. This initiative aims to empower them towards gainful employment and self-sufficiency.
Additionally, PwDs are granted various financial incentives, such as allowances for transportation and personal assistive devices, along with post-placement support.
The department has also mandated reasonable accommodations for PwDs participating in skill training, the Minister emphasized.
He noted that skill development initiatives for Divyangjan are integrated with mainstream skill development programmes.
Training activities under this scheme adhere to the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) standards, incorporating Qualification Packs (QP) and Job Roles, as sanctioned by Sector Skill Councils.
Minister Virendra Kumar asserted that in an effort to enhance skill training opportunities for PwDs in rural and aspirational districts, proposals for skill training in these areas are prioritized.
Furthermore, allowances for accommodation and transportation are also provided to the participating trainees.
