New Delhi, Nov 15 (NationPress) Handicrafts, handloom creations, embroidery, and packaged food items crafted by Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from various parts of the country are set to be showcased and sold during the 'Divya Kala Mela' (DKM), commencing Saturday at Lucknow University, as stated by an official.
This event aims to highlight and honor the exceptional talents and entrepreneurial spirit of Divyang individuals, running until November 23, according to a statement.
Organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the event promises to offer visitors a delightful experience with captivating products from various regions of India, including Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern states.
Over the last three years, 26 Divya Kala Melas have been conducted nationwide, playing a crucial role in showcasing cultural diversity, enhancing the local economy, and fostering community engagement.
These fairs have opened fresh marketing opportunities for Divyang entrepreneurs, with artisans from 24 states collectively earning over Rs 21 crore through these events, as per the statement.
The Melas also aim to raise awareness about disability through experience zones, sports activities, art exhibitions, and more.
Indeed, DKM stands as a significant platform that emphasizes the capabilities of Divyang artisans, artists, and entrepreneurs.
About 100 Divyang artisans/artists/entrepreneurs from around 18 States/UTs will be exhibiting their products and skills at this Mela at Lucknow University.
The primary product categories will include home decor and lifestyle items, apparel, eco-friendly products, stationery, packaged and organic food items, toys, jewellery, and more.
This nine-day Divya Kala Mela is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., featuring a series of cultural performances by Divyang artists and renowned performers throughout the event.
Visitors can relish various delicacies from different parts of the country. On November 23, a special cultural program named 'Divya Kala Shakti' will take place, showcasing performances by Divyang artists from diverse states, as stated.
