Are DMK Remarks a Sign of Panic After NDA Rally?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Jan 28 (NationPress) A.N.S. Prasad, spokesperson for the Tamil Nadu BJP, stated on Wednesday that the recent comments made by DMK leaders aimed at AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami illustrate a sense of “political panic” within the ruling party after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rally held in Madhuranthakam. In his statement, Prasad criticized Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi for frequently labeling Palaniswami a “slave” of the BJP.
He argued that such terminology reveals the DMK’s struggle to address the rising influence of the NDA in anticipation of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Prasad noted that the Madhuranthakam rally, which featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi, communicated “clear signals of change” throughout Tamil Nadu.
He asserted that the level of public turnout disturbed the DMK leadership, particularly Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his family, who he claimed were growing increasingly nervous about their political future.
The BJP spokesperson further mentioned that the NDA, under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has formed a cohesive and disciplined alliance in the state.
Additionally, he highlighted Palaniswami and Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran's extensive statewide tours aimed at exposing what the BJP calls corruption, governance failures, and unfulfilled promises by the DMK.
Prasad expressed strong disapproval of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments questioning Prime Minister Modi’s outreach to women voters, labeling them as “irresponsible and misleading”. He asserted that the women-focused welfare initiatives of the Union government have aided numerous families in Tamil Nadu.
Referring to images from the NDA rally, Prasad stated that the joint presence of Prime Minister Modi and Palaniswami embodied the “double-engine governance model” that the alliance aims to present to voters in 2026. He emphasized that the NDA is dedicated to progress, administrative consistency, and transparent governance.
The BJP further charged the DMK with resorting to personal attacks to distract from public discontent regarding inflation, law enforcement issues, and alleged corruption. Prasad concluded by emphasizing that the NDA is confident of obtaining a decisive mandate in the 2026 Assembly elections and establishing the next government in Tamil Nadu.
