Key Takeaways
Chennai, Jan 23 (NationPress) At a dynamic rally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) held on Friday in Madurantakam, located near Chennai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce critique against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), alleging widespread corruption, misgovernance, and a betrayal of public trust. He emphasized that Tamil Nadu is poised for a government led by the BJP-led NDA.
The rally featured prominent NDA figures, including AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran, and Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan, along with other leaders from NDA.
During his address, PM Modi remarked that Tamil Nadu was “striving to liberate itself from the DMK’s ineffective governance” and asserted that the countdown for the end of the DMK regime has commenced.
“The public has given the DMK two opportunities, but it has failed to uphold their trust. This administration is defined by corruption, crime, and dynastic politics,” he stated, calling for a “secure, corruption-free government.”
The Prime Minister accused the DMK of serving the interests of a single family and highlighted what he termed the party's four detrimental paths: dynasty, corruption, disrespect towards women, and disregard for cultural values.
“Tamil Nadu has significantly contributed to India’s civilizational legacy. For India to thrive, Tamil Nadu must break free from DMK misrule,” he added.
Highlighting contributions from the Centre, PM Modi stated that the Union government has initiated “unprecedented development initiatives” in Tamil Nadu over the past eleven years, claiming that Rs 3 lakh crore has been allocated to the state through devolution alone.
He also noted that the NDA administration has dedicated nearly seven times more funding for railways compared to the former DMK-Congress government and credited the Centre for launching Vande Bharat trains while enhancing support for farmers and fishermen.
Addressing issues related to law enforcement and drug abuse, PM Modi criticized the DMK government for not safeguarding the youth from narcotics and criminal activities.
He contrasted the current state of affairs with the administration of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, whom he praised for her effective crime management.
On cultural matters, PM Modi reaffirmed his appreciation for the Tamil language and its heritage, mentioning that he has presented the Thirukkural to global leaders and advocated for Tamil studies in national institutions.
He further accused the DMK and its allies of undermining religious traditions for electoral gain.
In reference to Jallikattu, PM Modi pointed out that the DMK-Congress government had prohibited the sport, whereas the NDA facilitated its legal continuation.
PM Modi concluded by asserting that Tamil Nadu requires a government that believes in its youth and collaborates effectively with the Centre.
