Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 23 (NationPress) As the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is gearing up to kick off its campaign with a significant rally led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Madurantakam this Friday.
The announcement came from Nainar Nagenthran, the BJP state president and legislative leader, indicating the alliance's determination to pose a formidable challenge to the ruling DMK.
This rally, occurring along the Chennai-Tindivanam highway, marks the NDA’s inaugural large-scale public event ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, expected to attract a substantial turnout of supporters and volunteers from across the State.
The Prime Minister will deliver a special address at the rally, with leaders from NDA coalition parties, including the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Bharatiya Janata Party, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Tamil Maanila Congress, and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, anticipated to be present.
Nagenthran informed reporters on Sunday that the Prime Minister's speech would signify the start of the NDA's electoral campaign in the State.
"On January 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially kick off the NDA campaign in Madurantakam. He will join the rally to highlight the failures of the DMK government currently in power in Tamil Nadu," he stated.
When asked about the final roster of NDA partners, especially regarding the potential inclusion of T. T. V. Dhinakaran's AMMK, former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, and the DMDK, Nagenthran refrained from revealing specific alliances.
However, he suggested that a united front would be evident at the rally in Madurantakam.
"You will witness a display of unity on stage on January 23," he remarked, asserting that "all leaders will have a place on stage" during the Prime Minister's visit.
Nagenthran also addressed the ongoing dispute between the DMK and the AIADMK concerning accusations of duplicating campaign promises.
He defended the AIADMK's manifesto, noting that party leader Edappadi K Palaniswami previously pledged Rs 1,500 monthly assistance for women, which has now been increased to Rs 2,000.
"It cannot be deemed a copy simply because a similar initiative exists," he emphasized, adding that "a significant transformation in public perception is on the horizon."
