A representative from the Manipur government mentioned that Scindia, who also oversees the Ministry of Communications, during a meeting with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and senior officials from both the Centre and state government, emphasized various sectors demanding focused development efforts in the state.
“The Union Minister highlighted critical areas such as handicrafts and handloom, sports, tourism, international trade, and agriculture, particularly palm oil farming in the region, logistics, and national highway development,” the official reported.
Moreover, the DoNER Minister instructed the officials at the meeting to hasten the progress of significant infrastructure projects like universities and the Special Economic Zone in Manipur, as well as mental health, maternity, and child hospitals.
During the gathering, the Union Minister, along with representatives from the Ministry of DoNER, delivered a thorough review on the status of diverse ongoing projects within Manipur.
Later, the Governor and the Union Minister led a meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Sports for the North Eastern Region.
The Chief Minister of Mizoram Lalduhoma, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Yanthungo Patton, Meghalaya's Additional Chief Secretary, and the Joint Secretary of the Department of Sports participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
Numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the sports sector in the region were deliberated.
