Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, April 2 (NationPress) The President of Rajasthan Congress, Govind Singh Dotasra, fiercely criticized the state government on Thursday, alleging that it is intentionally postponing the Panchayat and urban body elections out of fear of losing.
Dotasra claimed that the OBC Commission was not established in a timely manner to hinder the electoral proceedings.
Highlighting the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments, he emphasized that elections must be held within a five-year period, mentioning that delays were only permissible during the Covid-19 pandemic with the Supreme Court's consent.
“The state administration is now presenting excuses such as delimitation and pending reports to evade elections,” he stated.
Dotasra made these comments in Ajmer during his journey from Jaipur to Beawar, where he was received warmly by Congress supporters alongside the Leader of Opposition, Tika Ram Jully.
He further asserted that even without the OBC Commission’s report, elections should proceed, citing observations from the Supreme Court.
Dotasra also declared that Congress leaders would visit various districts to “reveal the government’s alleged misuse of bureaucracy in local governance.”
Additionally, he accused the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) of becoming a “hub for adjustments” involving the sons of Ministers and MLAs.
LoP Jully also directed his criticism towards the Central government, questioning its foreign policy.
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel, Jully urged the Prime Minister to clarify his diplomatic position.
He also expressed concerns regarding the surging prices of fuel and LPG, highlighting the long queues at petrol stations and gas agencies.
“Citizens are struggling, yet the government is only making empty promises,” Jully remarked.
On his official X account, Dotasra stated: “The BJP government is failing to provide cylinders and is unable to curb their black marketing! Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma seems oblivious to these long queues and the rampant black marketing! In every city and locality, people are waiting for hours, while cylinders are being sold illegally under the protection of those in power. The supply of LPG is halted, leaving the common man helpless, yet the government remains indifferent! The ineffectiveness of the BJP government is evident… no control, no decisive actions, merely empty claims!”
