Jaipur, Jan 26 (NationPress) The observance of the 77th Republic Day at the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) office on Monday transformed into a critique of the BJP-led Central government, as Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra accused it of a systematic assault on the Constitution and voting rights.
Dotasra raised the Tricolour at the PCC office amidst the presence of Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully, former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, MLAs Rafiq Khan and Amin Kagzi, along with several senior Congress leaders. Notable visits from Vaibhav Gehlot and Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya were also observed.
Speaking to the media, Dotasra remarked: "This day fills us with pride as a nation. Babasaheb Ambedkar gifted us the Constitution, yet since Prime Minister Modi assumed office, there have been ongoing efforts to alter it. We vow to resist any attempts to change the Constitution."
He claimed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative was being misused to undermine voting rights.
"Voting rights are being eroded through this campaign. Our independent institutions are being compromised, leading to a weakening of democracy," he stated.
Criticizing the BJP government, Dotasra asserted that there is a climate of fear prevailing in the nation.
"Our rights are being bulldozed. The essence of voting is being stripped away. Our forefathers sacrificed their lives for our independence and the Constitution. Today, we pledge to defend it fiercely," he declared.
He accused BJP leaders of invoking the Constitution in their speeches while simultaneously undermining it in practice, emphasizing that safeguarding it is crucial now more than ever.
Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully highlighted that the Constitution guarantees dignity and justice for all societal segments and is the cornerstone of the nation's advancement.
"Babasaheb crafted the Constitution at a time when there was barely any manufacturing in India. From that point, our nation has soared to great heights. However, today, the Constitution faces incessant attacks," he stated.
Jully further criticized the Central government's economic and social strategies, alleging that vital social security programs are being abolished, pushing the impoverished further into hardship.
He also commented on international matters, asserting that India lacks global backing even during critical operations like Operation Sindoor.
