Jaipur, May 30 (NationPress) Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra fiercely criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, condemning the symbolic distribution of ‘Sindoor’ (vermilion) while voicing serious concerns regarding national security and the educational landscape in Rajasthan.
In a press conference held at his residence in Sikar, Dotasra questioned the Prime Minister's recent statements about distributing sindoor to every household.
“Why is ‘Sindoor’ being distributed? In Hindu culture, mothers and sisters apply ‘Sindoor’ in the name of their husbands. This indicates a lack of understanding of Hindu traditions. The statement is not just insensitive but also reprehensible,” Dotasra remarked.
He further stated that PM Modi intends to distribute ‘Sindoor’ to the 26 women who lost their husbands in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
“Do you (PM Modi) believe they will accept that ‘Sindoor’? What we seek is justice, not mere symbolism. We demand accountability for the shattered lives of our sisters,” he expressed.
Dotasra also accused the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of exploiting religion and emotions for political gain.
“They have won elections by dividing communities along religious lines and manipulating their sentiments. However, such tactics will backfire now,” he stated.
Additionally, he criticized the government's approach to national security, alleging that a ceasefire was imposed under US pressure.
“Today, our Air Chief Marshal has confirmed that India is not receiving essential defense equipment as per previous agreements. The Prime Minister must clarify why this is the case,” he demanded.
Referring to PM Modi’s earlier assertive stance on terrorism, Dotasra observed, “Previously, he spoke of exacting ten lives for one. Now, all we hear are symbolic phrases. PM Modi has trivialized national security into a political metaphor.”
He called for PM Modi to convene a special session of Parliament to address the recent terrorist incidents that resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local civilian in Kashmir.
“The public deserves clarity on what went wrong, what corrective measures will be implemented, and how the country will ensure safety. Yet, PM Modi is preoccupied with election rallies,” he remarked.
Dotasra also ridiculed PM Modi’s call for a boycott of foreign goods, pointing out the irony.
“His glasses, coat, and shoes are all imported. He has traveled to approximately 80 countries, yet none stood with India during the Pahalgam incident,” he noted.
Shifting focus to state politics, Dotasra criticized Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar, claiming he frequently makes nonsensical statements and shows a lack of commitment to education.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if his academic credentials are dubious,” he added.
Dotasra further questioned the significant drop in enrollment at government schools.
“After the pandemic, enrollment was one crore. Now it has plummeted to 70 lakh. The Chief Minister and Education Minister owe the public an explanation for this decline,” he stated.
He also expressed support for the Shekhawat Shikshak Sangh, a teachers’ organization marching to Jaipur from various districts to advocate for their demands.
“None of these teachers’ demands place a financial burden on the government. Yet, inaction persists. These educators are committed to safeguarding public education,” Dotasra concluded.
