New Delhi, May 30 (NationPress) The BJP has issued a stern condemnation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her recent comments regarding 'Operation Sindoor', a military response aimed at Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror incident. Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi responded fiercely, alleging that Banerjee is spreading confusion about a significant national victory and diminishing the bravery of the armed forces.
On May 29, in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in Alipurduar, Banerjee claimed that the operation's name 'Operation Sindoor' was chosen for political advantage.
“Once he identified as a ‘chaiwala’, then as a ‘chowkidar’, and now he is discussing selling 'sindoor'. 'Sindoor' should not be treated this way. It symbolizes the respect and dignity of mothers. The name was assigned to exploit it politically. Such names are determined by the central government,” Banerjee stated.
Countering her remarks, Naqvi told IANS, “Some individuals are accustomed to creating confusion and singing tunes of malice when the nation achieves a victory. They are aware of how our military has defeated terrorists. Yet instead of honoring the bravery of our forces, they express sympathy for the enemy. While the valor of the military is evident, these leaders are comforting the terrorists. Your intolerance towards Modi’s achievements is understandable, but it should not transform into intolerance towards the nation’s success.”
Naqvi also commented on senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid’s recent acknowledgment of the abrogation of Article 370, labeling it as a rare moment of honesty from the Opposition.
“Those who grasp the ground realities recognize the positive transformations following the abrogation of Article 370. For the first time since Independence, local body elections were conducted in Jammu and Kashmir. The era of stone-pelting and separatist rule has ended. With Article 370 abolished, over 370 issues have vanished—deep into the ground,” he remarked.
Naqvi responded to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who questioned the Prime Minister regarding the number of Rafale jets reportedly downed by Pakistan during the recent conflict.
“This aging party is now competing for dominance in what I describe as the 'mourning garden' of outdated politics. Leaders are preoccupied debating whether Rahul Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, or Nehru would have acted differently. Rather than focusing on today’s accomplishments, they dwell in the past,” Naqvi stated.
He added, “Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) is an inseparable part of India and will forever remain so. It has been illegally occupied by Pakistan. In this Amrit Kaal, PoK will reunite with India. Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s speculative actions—we cannot predict what he would do, but it is evident that his party is fragmenting.”
Addressing Congress MP Jairam Ramesh’s critique of the government’s management of the Pahalgam terror incident, along with his assertion that the responsible terrorists are still “roaming free,” Naqvi stated that the Opposition’s narrative merely aids the enemies of the country.
“This verbal conflict in the mourning garden of the outdated party illustrates their disconnection from the nation’s sentiments. While the world supports India in its battle against terrorism, the Congress appears to be articulating a different narrative. Their criticisms resonate with the distress of terrorists, not with a responsible Opposition. Until Congress escapes this self-imposed lament, it will continue to decline while failing the nation,” Naqvi concluded.
