Kolkata, June 1 (NationPress) - Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed distress over the achievements of Operation Sindoor, a military operation through which the Indian Armed Forces eliminated multiple terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. Speaking at a political rally in Kolkata on Sunday, he stated, "Our forces have obliterated a terror headquarters located 100 kilometers within Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists. Yet, Mamata Banerjee seemed to suffer from a 'stomach ache' due to this successful operation. I hope she felt the pain when citizens from West Bengal were victims of the terror attack at Pahalgam in April. However, when our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, visited West Bengal post-Operation Sindoor, she made an inappropriate political remark against it. The Chief Minister has played with the emotions of the mothers and sisters in our nation," he elaborated.
Notably, last week, the Chief Minister labeled the name of Operation Sindoor as politically driven.
Her remarks arrived shortly after Prime Minister Modi criticized the West Bengal government and the ruling Trinamool Congress during a rally in Alipurduar, focusing on issues like corruption, women's safety, and the treatment of Hindus.
Shah further remarked that while the Chief Minister may support the terrorists dispatched to India from Pakistan, she should recognize that Operation Sindoor is ongoing. "Anyone attempting to create mischief will receive a proper response," he warned.
During his speech, he also condemned the Chief Minister for not providing land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for erecting barbed fences along the state's international borders. He claimed, "The Chief Minister desires illegal infiltration to persist so her government can endure, and so her nephew may eventually ascend as the Chief Minister of West Bengal."
Shah emphasized that if the BJP wins the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly election, they would bring to justice those responsible for the murders of BJP workers in the state.
“Corruption permeates every facet of administration in West Bengal. While the leaders of Trinamool Congress profited from this corruption, ordinary citizens bore the brunt of it. Had central armed forces been deployed earlier, the Hindus in Murshidabad could have been safeguarded. It is now evident that elected representatives and Trinamool Congress leaders were involved in those riots," he concluded.
