Kolkata, May 29 (NationPress) The BJP criticized West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday for labeling the term ‘Operation Sindoor’ as “politically motivated”, asserting that her remarks align with Pakistan’s narrative regarding the anti-terror operation conducted by Indian forces within Pakistan.
“In Pahalgam, Hindu women were recognized by their shankha and sindoor - symbols of their faith - and their husbands and children were selectively targeted and murdered. Two Hindu women from West Bengal were compelled to recite the kalma merely because they wore sindoor, and they were then forced to witness the brutal killings of their husbands,” stated the BJP’s Information Technology Cell chief and central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, on X.
He further mentioned that after Operation Sindoor, these women expressed feeling genuinely respected and honored.
“Yet Mamata Banerjee trivializes the very name of the operation, labeling it as a mere political maneuver. Shame on her. She is adopting Pakistan's narrative,” Malviya remarked.
Earlier, in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s numerous allegations against the West Bengal government and the ruling Trinamool Congress in Alipurduar district, the Chief Minister accused the PM of engaging in “business of Sindoor.”
Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar stated that comparing Operation Sindoor to a “business of Sindoor” is an unparalleled insult and a betrayal of the sacrifices made by India’s courageous soldiers.
"While our Prime Minister diligently works to uphold the nation’s pride and security, the Chief Minister remains entrenched in vote-bank politics. This is not merely politics; it is a betrayal of national sentiments for the sake of narrow political ambitions. Her only priority is her vote, not the country,” claimed Majumdar.
BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul remarked that the Chief Minister’s comments regarding Operation Sindoor reflect her poor judgment.
“Shame on her! The Chief Minister launched a personal and below-the-belt attack today, which was utterly shameful. She is evidently displeased that our nation, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has provided a robust response to the atrocities against tourists in Pahalgam. In reality, her comments insulted the Indian Armed Forces and their efforts regarding Operation Sindoor,” Paul concluded.
