Jaipur, Jan 2 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Police apprehended three individuals on Friday, confiscating a substantial amount of heroin valued at Rs 20 crore that was being illegally transported into Sri Ganganagar, according to an official report.
The police successfully detained the suspects and retrieved 4.88 kg of heroin alongside a drone.
During a press conference at Gharsana police station, Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Amrita Duhan shared insights about the smuggling operation. The heroin was dispatched from Pakistan using a drone, which unfortunately crashed at the same site where the drugs were offloaded.
On the evening of January 1, a police patrol team from the Rawla police station noticed three young men acting suspiciously near the 15 KND culvert along the canal bank. The suspects were seen carrying a plastic sack. Upon noticing the police vehicle, they attempted to escape but were swiftly surrounded and captured.
Upon searching them, authorities uncovered 4 kg 88 grams of heroin neatly packed in three separate packets, along with a DJI drone.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Jagnadeep Singh alias Labbu Singh (26), from Chak 10 K (Anupgarh); Neetu Singh alias Ravneet Singh (21), from Dabli Rathan (Hanumangarh); and Satpal Singh (27), from Chak 04 STR (Gharsana). Police investigations revealed that 1,019 grams of heroin were seized from Jagnadeep Singh, 2,048 grams from Neetu Singh, and 1,021 grams from Satpal Singh.
The drone involved in the cross-border smuggling operation was in Satpal’s possession. A case has been filed against all three under the NDPS Act. Authorities are conducting thorough interrogations, anticipating significant disclosures related to the smuggling network and its cross-border connections.
With support from the Border Security Force (BSF), a major search operation is also underway in adjacent fields, roads, and potential hideouts.
Given the seizure of such a vast quantity of heroin, security agencies are now on high alert. As the use of drones for smuggling in border regions escalates, surveillance and monitoring efforts have been significantly heightened.
