Diu, Jan 8 (NationPress) The dreams of Bihar to secure a gold medal in Sepak-takraw were dashed as the women from Haryana and the men from Delhi achieved remarkable victories during the finals of the Khelo India Beach Games 2026 held at Ghoghla Beach in Diu on Thursday.
In the women's final of Sepak-takraw, Haryana made a strong comeback after initially losing the opening regu, ultimately triumphing 2-1 in a match that spanned an hour and 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the Delhi men's team delivered a decisive 2-0 victory over Bihar.
In the realm of Beach Soccer, the defending champions from Odisha showcased their prowess with an impressive 7-0 victory against the debutants from Himachal Pradesh, securing their spot in the women's final. Star players Srijana Tamang, Satyabati Khadia, and Khundongbam Ambalika each found the net twice for the winning team.
In the second semifinal of the women's section, Gujarat took off with a bang, scoring four goals in the first quarter and sealing a 6-3 win over Arunachal Pradesh. Despite skipper Giani Ramching Mara scoring once in each quarter, the team struggled to find sufficient support against Gujarat.
In Beach Volleyball, Tamil Nadu is poised to compete for both men’s and women’s gold medals.
