Drugs Valued at Rs 8.57 Crore Confiscated in Mizoram; Three Arrested

Aizawl, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Assam Rifles, along with various law enforcement agencies, have seized drugs valued at Rs 8.57 crore and detained three smugglers in Mizoram, according to officials on Friday.
Sources from the Assam Rifles indicated that the paramilitary forces, in cooperation with personnel from the Excise and Narcotics Department, recovered 244.500 grams of heroin and 2.288 kilograms of ‘WY’ tablets, amounting to Rs 8.57 crore, and apprehended three smugglers from the Mualkawi area in the Champhai district on Thursday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Lalhruaitluanga (56), Lalromawia (44), and Lalruatmawia (42).
In a separate operation, the Assam Rifles, in conjunction with the Mizoram Police Department, confiscated Rs 1.24 crore in Indian currency and detained a Myanmar national named Lianbiaksang (26) from the Ngur area, also within Champhai, near the India-Myanmar border.
This operation was conducted based on specific intelligence, and the Indian currency was discovered in the bags of the Myanmar citizen.
Both the drugs and the seized currency have been handed over to the Champhai district police for further legal action.
With this latest seizure on Thursday, in the last 17 days (from November 20 to December 5), the Assam Rifles, along with state police and other law enforcement agencies, have confiscated various drugs smuggled from Myanmar, totaling Rs 178.57 crore in Tripura and Mizoram.
On December 2, a major drug bust occurred when the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with state police, confiscated substantial quantities of drugs valued at Rs 68.03 crore in Mizoram’s Champhai district, which borders Myanmar.
Prior to this, on November 24, the Assam Rifles, in a collaboration with Customs officials, seized one kilogram of Crystal Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 16 crore from Badharghat, located on the outskirts of Tripura's capital, Agartala.
Furthermore, on November 20, the Assam Rifles and state police jointly seized 28.520 kilograms of Methamphetamine tablets, 52 grams of heroin valued at Rs 85.95 crore, and a foreign pistol in three distinct operations in Mizoram’s Champhai district.
