Bhopal, Dec 23 (NationPress) Following the completion of the door-to-door Special Intensive Revision (SIR), a highly discussed initiative in Madhya Pradesh, the Election Commission of India (ECI) unveiled the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll for the state on Tuesday.

According to the report issued after a meeting with the Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjeev Kumar Jha in Bhopal, it was noted that the names of 42.72 lakh voters have been removed from the roll.

Additionally, 8.4 lakh voters could not be mapped. Nevertheless, these voters will have another opportunity to add their names to the draft electoral roll in Madhya Pradesh.

Once the draft rolls are published, voters can submit claims and objections for inclusion, deletion, or correction of entries within the time frame specified by the ECI.

The Commission has encouraged electors to thoroughly verify their details during this period to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded and that any ineligible names are eliminated from the electoral rolls.

With the draft list now available, a month-long "Claims and Objections" window has begun across all 52 districts of Madhya Pradesh, concluding on January 15, 2026.

This phase is crucial for voters currently under 'Notice' status, as their names risk permanent removal if identity verification is not successfully completed.

In the meantime, immediately after the ECI released the draft, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari asserted that the removal of 42.72 lakh ineligible voters had influenced the results of the state Assembly elections in 2023.

Patwari stated during a press conference at the state party office on Tuesday, "The ECI has identified over 42 lakh fake voters in Madhya Pradesh, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained 30 lakh votes more than the Congress in the 2023 Assembly elections. This indicates that these fake voters were linked to the BJP."

Over 65,000 BLOs (Booth Level Officers) were assigned to conduct door-to-door verification of voters starting November 4, while more than 6.65 crore voters were registered in 2023 in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh comprises a total of 230 Assembly seats and 29 Lok Sabha constituencies distributed across 55 districts, segmented into 10 divisions including Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Chambal, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol, and Ujjain.

Point of View

It's essential to remain unbiased while reporting on significant political developments. The recent findings from the ECI regarding the removal of ineligible voters in Madhya Pradesh highlight the importance of electoral integrity. Both the Congress and BJP must ensure that the electoral process remains transparent and fair to uphold the democratic principles of our nation.
