New Delhi, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice on Thursday to Kota Neelima, the wife of Congress leader Pawan Khera, requesting a response by September 10. This action arises from allegations that she possesses two active EPICs—one registered in Delhi and another in Telangana.
The notice was sent to Neelima’s residence in Kaka Nagar, Delhi, and was issued by the Election Registration Officer (ERO) of the New Delhi Assembly constituency.
The notice states, “As you may know, being registered on the electoral roll of more than one constituency is a criminal offense under the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
“You are therefore directed to explain why action should not be initiated against you under the relevant Act,” it further noted.
The ERO has requested that Neelima’s response should reach their office by 11 a.m. on September 10 (Wednesday).
This notice was issued to Neelima under Form 7/Rule 20 (3) (b) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. The ERO also shared the two distinct entries from the electoral rolls of both states that illustrate her separate registrations.
The poll panel’s action coincides with the BJP's ongoing criticism of the Congress party regarding the 'voter theft campaign.'
Following the revelation of Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera's two voter IDs, the BJP has now focused its attention on his wife, who also allegedly holds “two active EPICS.”
BJP leader and IT cell chief Amit Malviya took to social media platform X to highlight that Kota Neelima, who contested from the Khairatabad segment in Telangana, possesses two active EPICs—one in Khairatabad and the other in New Delhi.
Malviya shared details of the two voter IDs: EPIC Number: TDZ2666014, Assembly: 60-Khairatabad, active until 2023 and 2025; EPIC Number: SJE0755975, Assembly: 40-New Delhi.
He also questioned Rahul Gandhi's silence on this issue, stating, “Rahul Gandhi held a press conference and without proper due diligence, targeted and jeopardized honest voters by revealing their identities without consent. He doxxed young professionals and daily laborers seeking better opportunities,” he remarked on X.
