Bengaluru, Sep 2 (NationPress) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated an investigation into the high-profile alleged murder incidents at Dharmasthala, located in Karnataka's Manguluru district. Notices have been sent to banks in the region concerning the financial transactions of activists accused of receiving foreign funding aimed at making allegations against the management of the Dharmasthala temple, as confirmed by sources on Tuesday.

The ED has reached out to multiple banks for transaction details covering the past five years.

Additionally, they have requested information regarding foreign deposits, relevant documentation, and details provided during these transactions, according to sources.

It has been confirmed that the account information of NGOs 'Odanadi' and 'Samvada' is currently being gathered.

Karnataka BJP MP Kota Srinivas Poojary addressed a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on August 19, calling for an ED investigation into foreign funding received by certain individuals and YouTubers linked to the mass grave case.

In his correspondence to Home Minister Shah, BJP leader Poojary stated, "A conspiracy against the Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy temple in Mangaluru district has emerged. I urge an ED inquiry into the foreign funding of some individuals, including YouTubers, who threaten Hindu religious beliefs."

He further added, "As reported nationwide, a faction opposing the Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy temple has been making attempts to tarnish its sanctity. The state's Deputy Chief Minister has openly declared that there is a conspiracy against the temple."

"The Minister overseeing Mangaluru district, Dinesh Gundu Rao, announced to the media that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established at the behest of left-wing groups. Reports suggest that the state's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has set up an SIT based on claims from an anonymous accuser, indicating that the entire government appears to have capitulated to this accuser," BJP leader Poojary elaborated.

"They (Congress-led government) are carelessly excavating trenches, even at the base of the revered Hindu deity Bahubali, causing distress among devotees. Reports have surfaced regarding a politician from Tamil Nadu exerting pressure on the Congress High Command to devise a plan to undermine the faith of Hindus in Karnataka," he continued.

"In the meantime, it has come to light that a Muslim YouTuber and his associates, who are attempting to discredit the temple, have received foreign funds, suggesting that certain individuals have declared war on the Manjunatha Swamy temple," BJP leader Poojary claimed.

He urged the Congress-led state government, stating, "Therefore, I kindly request that you take my letter seriously and initiate an ED investigation into the foreign financial support received by those opposing the Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy."

Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara confirmed on Tuesday that the Congress-led government will not transfer the Dharmasthala case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

However, he clarified that if the ED decides to pursue its own investigation regarding the funding, the state government cannot impede it.

Addressing the allegations of funding intended to disparage Dharmasthala, Parameshwara commented, "Let the ED carry out their investigation into funding; we cannot object. They will examine financial and related aspects from their own perspective."

Point of View

The unfolding investigation led by the ED highlights the intersections of politics, religion, and financial transparency in India. The allegations surrounding foreign funding and the involvement of NGOs raise critical questions about accountability and the safeguarding of religious institutions. As this situation develops, it is essential to maintain a balanced approach that respects all viewpoints while upholding the principles of justice.
