Kolkata, April 19 (NationPress) On Sunday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed raids at the residence of Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Shantanu Sinha Biswas. The ED officials arrived at the DCP's residence located on Fern Road in Ballygunge around 7 a.m., where a search operation is currently in progress.
This investigation is related to the Sona Pappu syndicate case in the Ballygunge region of South Kolkata. Previously, Biswas served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Kalighat police station, which is part of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Bhabanipur Assembly constituency.
Simultaneously, the ED also targeted the residence of a businessman in Behala, another locality in South Kolkata.
The main suspect, Sona Pappu alias Biswajit Poddar, linked to the Golpark clash incident, has not yet been apprehended. Despite his public appearances and active social media presence, he remains at large.
Previously, the ED had summoned and interrogated an IPS officer regarding this incident, marking the first time they conducted a search at the DCP's home.

They experienced delays in gaining entry to Kamdar's house, as no one responded to their repeated knocks. Eventually, the door was opened, allowing the ED officers to enter. Meanwhile, the ED had also arrived early at Ballygunge.
Multiple locations in the state capital were searched on Friday in relation to illegal construction or syndicate activities. Recently, the ED also raided the residence of former state Minister Partha Chatterjee connected to the teacher recruitment corruption scandal.
Additionally, the Income Tax Department conducted a raid at the home of outgoing Rashbehari MLA and Trinamool Congress candidate Debashis Kumar.
The Assembly elections are set to occur in two phases on April 23 and 29, with the results announced on May 4.
