The group was transferred by Myanmar authorities to Thailand Immigration in Mae Sot on Friday, after they completed the local legal formalities for exit permits. They are now on the path to being repatriated to India via Bangkok.

In a post on its official X account, the Embassy updated the situation on Saturday, stating, "Following the completion of local legal procedures for exit permits, these six Indian nationals and another individual, released from the Myawaddy scam hub last month, were handed over by Myanmar authorities to Thailand Immigration in Mae Sot yesterday for further repatriation to India via Bangkok."

This event marks the continuation of the Embassy’s efforts in securing the release of Indian nationals victimized by illegal job schemes in Myanmar.

Previously, in December 2024, the Embassy announced that six additional Indian nationals from the same scam site were brought to the local police station for deportation back to India. The post highlighted, "101 Indians repatriated to India since July 2024," while emphasizing the advisory against accepting job offers in the area without consulting the Indian Mission.

Moreover, on January 12, the Embassy reported the repatriation of an Indian national from Kerala, who was released from the Myawaddy scam hub and returned via Yangon Airport. This brought the total number of repatriated individuals to 111 since July 2024. The Embassy continues to emphasize the importance of verifying job offers through official channels to prevent exploitation.
