New Delhi, March 7 (NationPress) - On Saturday, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta graced the National Convention of Women Thought Leaders themed 'Bharati - Nari to Narayani' held at Vigyan Bhawan. During her address, she underscored the increasing influence of women in crafting the nation's future and urged them to seize opportunities in all domains.

In her speech, which coincided with International Women’s Day, the Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of acknowledging women's contributions and empowering them to realize their dreams.

“This occasion allows us to celebrate our progress. This International Women’s Day is our moment to acknowledge that, as sisters, we are advancing in the right direction. We are setting our own goals. I prefer to keep my message straightforward…” she remarked.

Gupta reflected on the daily sacrifices made by mothers, noting that many women often place their families' needs above their own.

“I frequently observe mothers who nourish not just their children but many others. The mothers present here could feed their entire households, yet when it comes time for them to eat, they might forego their own meals or settle for leftovers. Why is this the case? It’s because you are integral to the family…” she stated.

Motivating women to aspire for leadership positions and professional achievements, Gupta declared that women possess the capacity to excel in any venture. “I want every sister in our nation to advance and leave her imprint in every area. Be it as a Wing Commander, like our sisters Vyomika or Sophia, or reaching the pinnacles of politics, business, or leading an institution as a principal, women are capable of achieving greatness…” she added.

Specifically addressing mothers, Gupta encouraged them to ensure that the next generation of girls receives improved opportunities. “When asked what message I have for the women of our country or Delhi, I emphasize that my message is particularly for mothers. You must guarantee that your daughters inherit the opportunities, resources, and freedom to make their own choices, allowing them to advance and explore a sky full of possibilities…” she explained.

The Chief Minister also mentioned various initiatives designed to empower women. “Through a multitude of initiatives—opening bank accounts, providing Mudra loans, allocating homes in women’s names, ensuring 33 percent reservation in politics, and offering opportunities to daughters like myself—the government, country, and Prime Minister have expanded new horizons for us sisters…” she remarked.

Stressing the importance of a secure and supportive environment for working women, Gupta noted that the government has taken measures to eliminate restrictive regulations. “I want the women of Delhi to feel safe and to thrive in a conducive environment. One day, while reviewing business regulations, I found that women were prohibited from working at night. I was astonished; how could this be? If a woman wishes to work and has the chance, who should deny her in today's age? I promptly revoked that rule…” she added.

The convention convened women leaders, professionals, and thinkers from across the nation to deliberate on empowerment, leadership, and opportunities for women in various fields.
