New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) Delhi's Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, announced on Tuesday her intention to unveil various programs aimed at empowering women and girls during the upcoming Budget 2026-27, which she will present in the Assembly on March 24.

Emphasizing the significance of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Gupta indicated that women in Delhi will gain access to employment and entrepreneurship through small, group-based initiatives.

During her participation in the Nari Utsav event at the Nirmal Chhaya Complex, she acknowledged the vital role women play in the development of the nation and committed to incorporating women-focused schemes into the budget.

She noted that women, through their unwavering dedication and service, are at the forefront of various sectors, propelling the country towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

While touring the Nirmal Chhaya campus, the Chief Minister reviewed an array of programs, services, and facilities.

Furthermore, she launched and evaluated numerous initiatives from the Department of Women and Child Development, reaffirming the government’s dedication to the comprehensive empowerment of both women and children.

Gupta emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, women are achieving remarkable success—from rural industries to corporate environments, and from politics to military roles—and stressed that the Delhi government is committed to enhancing women's empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Highlighting safety, dignity, and self-reliance as the three core tenets of women's empowerment, Gupta stated that every woman deserves a safe space, respect in all situations, and the chance to achieve financial independence.

She also advocated for expanding initiatives like Mahila Haat to provide women platforms for showcasing and selling their products.

According to her, the government’s strategy goes beyond merely launching schemes; it focuses on effective implementation to ensure that benefits reach those in need. She stressed the collective responsibility of society to ensure that no one goes hungry, remains unemployed, or is overlooked.

Interacting with women involved in the WCD-DSEU program, the Chief Minister praised the establishment of SHG-run canteens at ten locations, describing it as a robust model to foster women’s entrepreneurship.

Chief Minister Gupta also inspected the Samarth Anganwadi, where she reviewed upgraded infrastructure and multi-faceted health and wellness services.

She introduced several key initiatives, such as a comprehensive guide of schemes for women and children and the WCD newsletter.

Additionally, she distributed health mix kits to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, rewarded Anganwadi workers, and rolled out the Juvenile Justice Management Information System (JJMIS) portal to enhance child-centric service delivery.

Through the Give to Gain initiative, she called for a stronger partnership between the government and private sector to enhance Anganwadi centers and childcare institutions.

This initiative aims to install sanitary napkin vending machines, upgrade infrastructure, expand mobile health services, and introduce new programs for women and children, alongside creating job opportunities for women and SHGs.
