Ex-CM Hooda: Haryana's Growth Stalled Until Law and Order is Restored

Sonipat, Jan 9 (NationPress) Senior Congress figure and former Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, remarked on Thursday that the state's development is contingent upon an improvement in the law and order conditions.

During his visit to Sonipat for the inauguration of attorney chambers constructed for the Kharkhoda Bar Association, Hooda later addressed the press, criticizing the BJP government for its failures across various sectors, particularly in law enforcement and development.

"This administration has only succeeded in escalating the state's debt. Under the Congress leadership, Haryana excelled in metrics such as per capita income, investment, and overall development. Yet, after a decade in power, the BJP has failed to launch any significant initiatives or projects in the state, with no accomplishments to display," he stated.

Hooda further noted that major ventures, such as the Maruti plant planned for Kharkhoda and the Sonipat fruit and flower market, have been stalled.

"Moreover, projects like the Rail Coach Factory, which were approved during the Congress regime, have been diverted to other states," he explained.

Earlier, the Congress leader highlighted the extensive mining scam that has unfolded under the BJP government, amounting to thousands of crores, with continuous new disclosures emerging.

He pointed out that media reports and FIRs have disclosed the illegal extraction of thousands of tonnes of stone from the Aravali hills in Nuh.

Hooda claimed that the state's revenue has suffered a staggering loss of approximately Rs 20,000 crore due to this activity, which has also inflicted severe environmental damage.

"In spite of this, the BJP administration remains mute on the issue, as this operation appears to be conducted with the government's complicity," he asserted.

"Recently, it was uncovered that under governmental protection, the mining mafia has ravaged a mountain valued at Rs 22 billion near Nuh. This area has witnessed numerous accidents linked to illegal mining, resulting in fatalities, including the killing of a DSP by the illegal mining mafia," he added.
