Panchkula, Oct 21 (NationPress) An FIR has been lodged against former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa, his spouse and former Minister Razia Sultana, along with their daughter and daughter-in-law, pertaining to the demise of their son, Aqil Akhtar, as confirmed by officials on Tuesday.
Aqil Akhtar reportedly passed away in Panchkula on the evening of October 16. According to police reports, he was discovered unresponsive at his home in Sector 4, MDC, by family members, who promptly transported him to Civil Hospital, Sector 6.
Unfortunately, medical professionals pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The FIR has been filed at the Mata Mansa Devi police station in Panchkula under sections 103(1) and 61 (BNS), initiating an investigation against the four accused family members.
This development follows a press conference held by a neighbor, Shamsuddin Chaudhary, from Malerkotla, who made severe accusations and subsequently submitted a complaint to the Panchkula Police Commissioner.
He also provided a video recorded by Aqil Akhtar prior to his death, which has now gone viral, containing alarming allegations. In this footage, Aqil accused his father, former DGP Mohammad Mustafa, of having an illicit relationship with his wife and made serious claims against his mother, Razia Sultana, and sister, suggesting they were plotting against him.
In the wake of Aqil's passing, his family asserted that he succumbed to a drug overdose. However, the revelation of the video—reportedly filmed on August 27—has sparked fresh inquiries into the circumstances of his death.
Earlier statements from police indicated that initial findings pointed towards health complications possibly stemming from an overdose of “some medicine.”
Mohammad Mustafa, who concluded his service in the Punjab Police in 2021, later aligned himself with the Congress party.
His wife, Razia Sultana, is a prominent Congress leader who has been elected thrice as an MLA from Malerkotla.
