Explosion at Police Station: Akali Dal Demands Resignation of Punjab CM

Chandigarh, Dec 17 (NationPress) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia stated on Tuesday that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should take moral responsibility for the escalating law and order crisis and resign as Home Minister.
He voiced his astonishment at the way the Amritsar police and Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar were involved in a cover-up and were denying the occurrence of a series of grenade attacks on police stations in Amritsar.
An explosion was reported at the police station early Tuesday, causing alarm among the local residents, yet the police refuted it.
According to eyewitnesses, a loud blast was heard at approximately 3 A.M. However, police claimed that a heavy object had fallen on the temporary police sentry post located outside the station.
Commissioner Bhullar dismissed the allegations of a blast, asserting that a policeman on guard duty heard the sound.
“I promptly went outside but discovered nothing. I merely heard the noise,” he stated.
Commenting on the incident at Amritsar’s Islamabad police station where a loud explosion shattered window panes of surrounding homes, Majithia remarked, “The Amritsar Police hastily denied the occurrence and even tidied up the police station to suggest that nothing had transpired. Meanwhile, the police were simultaneously intimidating individuals who claimed they had heard a grenade explode, for which responsibility has now been acknowledged.”
Emphasizing that the Punjab government should not underestimate such attacks on police stations, the Akali leader stated, “Previously, when the Majitha police station experienced a grenade blast, the police contended that a tire had burst. Now, the same strategy is being applied in the case of the attack on the Islamabad police station.”
Majithia asserted that all these attacks were a clear sign of Intelligence failure and that the Chief Minister should accept moral accountability for it.
“This is also a consequence of weakening state institutions by encouraging gangsters like Lawrence Bishnoi,” he remarked.
He urged the state government not to attempt to deny such incidents and instead focus on isolating and apprehending the anti-national elements behind the blasts.
However, the Police Commissioner mentioned that some individuals claimed on social media that an “attack” occurred at the police station, but there was no such incident.
